Liverpool Twestival is just about 2 weeks away, or 14 sleeps as I prefer to think of it.

Let me introduce the organsing team;

Andy Goodwin aka @franticuk

Alison Gow aka @alisongow

Stu Robards aka @FACT_Liverpool or @thelazyupstart

We’ve had a bit of a coup this week, as the lovely and very talented @paversmith (Paver Smith) the Liverpool and Manchester based PR company have agreed to help out with Liverpool Twestival. They are, as we speak, gathering fabulous prizes for the auction and raffle. Please show them some twitter love.

Paver Smith @paversmith

Martyn Best @bestym

If you’d like to offer a prize, DM anyone of us. We’ll be delighted to take it off your hands! Tickets, meals, memberships - be creative!!

Tomorrow is the deadline for submitting our official cause, which is Clatterbridge Cancer Research. We’ve already done it of course, and we wanted to share with you some of the reasons why we love supporting @Clatterbridge.

We were asked a number of questions about the choice of the people of Liverpool, and here are the answers we, in conjunction with Clatterbridge, provided;

1. Why has your city decided to support this not-for-profit for Twestival Local?

The decision to support Clatterbridge was made by the twitter people of Liverpool and surrounding areas. Everyone knows someone who has been touched by Cancer, and Clatterbridge is synonymous with expertise, care and compassion in this particular field.
2. Describe the process by which you selected your cause.
We used Twitter to ask tweeps for suggestions. Call for suggestions, who should we support? http://is.gd/2xGAv

Ten local charities came through and we used twtpoll to get votes. Voting opens - http://is.gd/2xGvN

Liverpool Twestival blog promoting poll - http://is.gd/2xGrK

Winning Charity Tweet - http://twitter.com/lpooltwestival/status/3399911923

Final voting on twtpoll http://twtpoll.com/dr4b6m 271 votes with Clatterbridge taking over 100 of them.

3. What will the not-for-profit do with the money raised?
All money raised will support the work of clinical trial nurses. For some cancer patients, a clinical trial may be the only treatment option left. Clinical trials are vital to the development of pioneering treatment. Clatterbridge clinical nurses are working on trials that have the most impact on the people of our region. Because of the nature of their role they develop a very personal relationship with each patient as they strive to understand them as well as they can to get the most out of each trial. The main aim of the role is to recruit patients into clinical trials of cancer treatments and support those patients through their treatment ensuring that any problems associated with it are dealt with swiftly and professionally.
We’re looking for volunteers to sell raffle tickets on the night among other things. If you’d like to help out, DM one of us.
