This Is The Day, This Is The Hour - Liverpool Twestival Tonight!

Posted on: 25 March 2010 at 0838 - Comment

This is it, folks. Tonight, 25 March, 2010, 7.30pm, Pan-Am Bar, Albert Dock.

Yes, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is upon us. Liverpool Twestival kicks off tonight.

For those of you not into the whole ‘go with the flow’ thing, here’s a brief agenda of how things should happen:

  • 7.30pm People start arriving
  • 7.30-8pm Welcome
  • 8-8.30pm Man Get Out
  • Raffle draw by Gemma from Juice FM
  • Jazz & Networking

If you’re coming straight from work, Pan-Am will be serving bar food downstairs until 10pm and a la carte menu in their restaurant until 11pm, so those of you who want to eat can (this is not included in the price!)

The fantastically generous band Man Get Out will be playing following an introduction, during which time you can purchase raffle tickets as the draw will follow.  There’ll be jazz musicians to come in and play background music following the draw so that you can chat to your heart’s content without the intrusion of a band, and also so that there’s a time for networking, plus our band will get the attention they deserve!!

There will be stickers available to write your twitter names on but bear in mind that they are address label stickers, if you would prefer to do your own identification sticker/lanyard then feel free!

WiFi allowing, we will be using the twitterfall stream with the hashtag #livtwest, please use it!

Finally, I hope you have a fantastic evening. Please remember that 100% of ticket sales, 100% of donations, go directly to projects, and the people organising this event, the band, the musicians, even the venue - have all done this free of charge for this amazing cause, Concern Worldwide.

A massive thank you to Rob Hardaker (@DeeAy) for providing us the mixer for the band!

In case you need reminding, here’s the raffle prizes again. Buy your tickets to attend and enter the raffle here.

Liverpool Twestival - The Day After Tomorrow!

    Posted on: 23 March 2010 at 0923 - Comment

As the lovely Kate Bush said, something good is going to happen.

And that ‘thing’ is Liverpool Twestival, taking place at the Pan-Am Bar & Restaurant in the Albert Dock on Thursday 25 March 2010 at 7.30pm (SCREAM).

Why should you bother? Here’s why:

    • You’ll get to meet all those people you follow on Twitter face to face. You know what they’ve had for their tea, so why not put a face to a login name?
    • You’ll be able to ‘work the room’, if that’s your bag? Who knows what sweet music we could make together?
    • There’s be entertainment - local minstrels Man Get Out will get all up in your junk with a rip-roaring live set.
    • Have you seen the raffle prizes? OMFG. Check out the list then spin with greed and avarice. Then buy a ticket.
    • It’s all for a really good cause. We take our book learning for granted. For lots of children that’s not the case. All money raised goes to Concern, improving access to education for those not as lucky as us.
    • It’s only a fiver. Spash the blueys here.

So, to keep the pop songstress theme going, as Gwen Stefani said, What Ya Waiting for?

Playing live at this year’s Liverpool Twestival (that’s 25 March, date pedants!) are top Liverpool pop combo Man Get Out. They’ve recently won the city’s ‘Glastonbaby Battle of The Bands’ competition and have quite the following.

Their groovy sounds are sure to be bothering the hit parade any day now, so come along and do the Mashed Potato with them before anyone else.

And to get you in the mood, here’s a taster of the lads in full flight….

    Man Get Out

Yeah, I know we should be able to embed that video to make it look all spunky and modern, but the blog’s not having it. So bear with us and pretend it’s all 2004 or something and follow the link. You’ll be glad you did!

Because we love you, here’s a handy, easy to consult list of all the raffle prizes donated so far.

We’re sure you’ll agree they are all fantastic and well worth the puny price of £1 per ticket which you would be churlish and short-sighted not to pay.

You can buy your tickets here, and even donate more that the asking price because it’s all for a very good cause (making sure disadvantaged children get the education they need and deserve).

In no particular order of greatness, you could win:

Despite this list being grody to the max, Liverpool Twestival still wants MORE. If your business want to donate a prize, please DM @LpoolTwestival

Food. Let’s be honest, we all love it, and providing tasty nibbles is often an event dealbreaker.

So with this in mind, we’ve managed to get some top skoff lined up for the Liverpool Twestival (25 March, Moods, Fleets Street, fact-fans).

Those wonderful people at Cromwell’s have agreed to lay on canapes for 100 people at the event. That means if we stop selling tickets at 50, we can all have double! Only kidding, we want as many of you gorgeous people as possible to come along.

There’s going to be a party on my tongue and everyone’s invited!

This year we will be hanging out at Mood on Fleet Street, Liverpool City Centre.

Mood is one of Liverpool’s premier destination night spots. Situated in the heart of Liverpool’s Rope Walks quarter, it’s a great place to meet and we’re lucky and grateful to be welcomed there.

As well as the bar area for general getting down we hope to have a quieter ‘chill out’ space where can admire our Twitter feed and have a good old chin wag. Something for everyone then!

Visit their website to get the low-down on the venue.

    Find them with Google Maps

Thanks to the generosity of EF/AVHHF all donations and ticket sales are being matched through March 25 up to $100,000.
